[COMMUNITY MEDIA WORKS ]

LA PESADILLA/THE NIGHTMARE     Teaching Artist; Digital Video, 3:00, Spanish, 1998
This video was produced through the Casa Aztlan Youth Video Project with CAN TV, a community video program I developed, implemented and taught as Lead Artist for CAN TV's Community Partners Project. This inventive cartoon was intended to educate the Pilsen community about a Chicago tax program called Tax Increment Financing, or TIF, that was widely opposed by community activists. CAN TV is Chicago's public access television station; Casa Aztlan was a cultural and social service center serving the Mexican American community in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood.

KISS THE VOTE 2000     Lead Artist; Digital Video, 30:00, 2001
This program was produced for the Little City Foundation, an organization that includes an extensive arts program in its services for people with developmental disabilities. The program examined disability issues at the Democratic National Convention of 2000 and was shot on location in Los Angeles. The piece used a magazine format with studio set ups introducing short documentary segments, all featuring individuals with developmental disabilities. It was part of a larger series of programs designed to promote the visibility of people with developmental disabilities in the media. Kiss the Vote 2000 received a California Governor's Committee for Employment of Disabled Persons' Media Access Award.
